Position Overview
Modular IT is seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to help design the user experience for a next-generation personal finance and cash-flow planning application.
An early working application and product concept already exist. The selected designer will work directly with the product owner and engineering team to transform existing functionality and requirements into an intuitive, modern, and consistent experience across desktop and mobile devices.
This role requires more than visual design. We are looking for someone who can simplify complex workflows, organize substantial amounts of financial information, and create interfaces that allow users to understand and act on their information quickly and confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate the existing application and identify usability, navigation, and information-architecture improvements.
- Translate product requirements into user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready interface designs.
- Design responsive experiences for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Develop and maintain a consistent design system, including reusable components, typography, spacing, forms, navigation, and data visualization standards.
- Design intuitive dashboards and workflows for applications containing interconnected financial information.
- Collaborate with the product owner and engineering team throughout implementation.
- Conduct or support usability testing and incorporate feedback into design improvements.
- Ensure designs incorporate accessibility and responsive-design best practices.
- Provide design specifications and assets suitable for engineering implementation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional UI/UX or product-design experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing complex web or SaaS applications.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating information architecture, workflow design, responsive interfaces, and data-rich applications.
- Proficiency with Figma or comparable professional design tools.
- Experience developing or maintaining design systems.
- Strong understanding of responsive and mobile-first design.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive-design principles.
- Ability to translate business requirements into clear user experiences.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with financial technology, banking, budgeting, analytics, dashboards, healthcare, enterprise applications, or other products involving complex or sensitive data is highly desirable.
- Experience collaborating directly with React/frontend engineering teams is also preferred.
